Different User Levels/Roles for Spectrum Accounts
When you create a Spectrum username, you can assign it one of three different roles: Primary, Administrator (Admin) or Standard.
Each Spectrum account can have one Primary username and up to four Admin or Standard associated usernames. Find out how to create a username.
Primary
- Highest level of control in terms of access to account features
- Can update account info for all users
- Can reassign Primary status to another user
Admin
- Same level of control as Primary, except this role can't reassign Primary responsibilities to another.
Standard
- Lowest level of access
- Created by Primary or Admin users
- Can update contact info, password, security questions/answers and marketing/advertising preferences
- Cannot pay bill or view sensitive account info
Change a Username's Permissions
To update the role and permissions assigned to a Spectrum username:
- Sign in to your Spectrum online account using a Primary or Admin username and password.
- Select More from the menu on the left, then select Settings.
- To update your own permissions, select the Your Info tab. To update other users, choose the People tab.
- Select the three dots next to the name of the user you want to update.
- From here, you can:
- Manage the user’s Home Phone line (if they have one)
- Delete the user
- Change the user's role
Sign In as Primary or Admin User
If you’re signed in as a Standard user and you want to pay your bill or view your bill, sign out and then sign back in as a Primary or Admin user after verifying your identity.
To sign in as a Primary or Admin user:
- Sign out.
- Go to the Spectrum homepage and select Create a Username.
- Select Contact Info to verify your account with an email address or phone number associated with your account OR select Account Info and enter your Account Number and Security Code (found on your bill).
- Confirm that you’re not a robot.
- Next, Confirm Your Account by selecting the info associated with your account.
- Then Verify Your Identity. Choose to receive a verification code via text message, email or phone call.
- Enter the verification code on the next screen. Here, you can choose to view the Primary username and sign in or Reset Your Password.
